My blog is going in a completely different direction! You can expect more informal music/movie/game/book recommendations, interesting news and magazine articles, and guides on contributing/donating to social causes.
What’s happened so far?
I officially started this blog in August 2017, and I started regularly posting articles in February 2018. I started with ambitious goals, and I planned to cover news in the music and movie industries and offer commentary, with occasional reviews of albums and movies. It all started because I wanted a place to write down and share my opinions on various forms of art and media.
The problem is that for the last 2 years or so, I haven’t been writing as often as I’d like because I wanted to pump out a magazine-quality blog post every time. And let’s face it, it’s pretty hard to dedicate time and effort to that level of writing when I’m 1) not getting paid for this (haha), 2) I’m targeting a pretty niche audience, and 3) I’m a college student with other responsibilities and interests. Plus, forums/websites for people with specific interests, like Reddit, have strict rules against self-promotion.
In short, I feel like I’ve limited this blog from growing/reaching its “full potential” because I am not writing as much as I want and I am not writing about all of the things that fascinate me.
Where do I go from here?
The plan is to turn this blog into a general place to talk about my interests and commentary on current events. I will still write a lot about music – mostly pop/rap/R&B/classical – but like I said above, I will also write about my other interests. Like I wrote above, these include but are not limited to: movies, US/international news, climate change, YouTube channels/videos I like, important updates on my life, games/apps I like, websites/news/magazine articles I like. It will also be in a much more casual tone because I want readers to be able to relate to my posts more!
Articles I plan to write soon include:
- Where to get “unbiased” news if you’re tired of (perceived) political polarization in US media (Spoiler alert: Stop watching TV and reading social media. Read more newspaper articles.)
- Why performing arts organizations desperately need your help during COVID-19 & how you can help them
- How to donate to environmental organizations in the most effective way
- How to help social causes without spending money
- Photo dump/throwback to the Governors Ball Music Festival in 2019
You might wonder why I’m writing blog posts instead of vlogging on YouTube. After all, it’s 2020, not 1990, right?? I’m writing because 1) I like reading and writing, 2) I can express my thoughts in the most clear way when I write, 3) It’s easier to insert links to other things in a written blog post, and 4) I don’t know enough about vlogging equipment/cameras/editing. But I’m definitely considering what it would be like to run a YouTube vlog, and I’ll keep you all updated!
If you want to “subscribe” to my blog (i.e. receive emails when I post new articles), feel free to message me on social media or email me at nadiaeugenejo ‘at’ gmail.com . I’ll add you to the email list.
Please keep an eye out for my new posts!
